SIMON & SCHUSTER TRIUMPHS IN EIGHT-WAY AUCTION FOR YA DEBUT

Simon and Schuster Children’s Books today announced the acquisition of debut YA author, Clare Furniss, following a flurry of interest from publishers.
Ingrid Selberg, Publisher for S&S Children’s, acquired World English rights in two books from Catherine Clarke at Felicity Bryan Associates, for a six-figure sum in a hotly contested eight-way auction. The deal is a global acquisition with Justin Chanda, Vice President, Books for Young Readers at S&S US.
The first novel is entitled The Year of the Rat. The Rat of the title is fifteen-year-old Pearl’s name for her baby sister, who is born on the same day that her mother dies. As Pearl struggles to adjust to the new family dynamics, she discovers she’s not the only one who needs to let go of the past.

SIMON AND SCHUSTER BRINGS THE CIRCUS TO TOWN WITH A NEW YOUNG FICTION SERIES FROM BESTSELLER WILLIAM SUTCLIFFE

Simon and Schuster Children’s Books (UK) today announced the acquisition of a new illustrated young fiction series from bestselling adult author William Sutcliffe.
Jane Griffiths, Commissioning Editor, bought world rights in two books from Felicity Rubinstein of Lutyens and Rubinstein.
The first book in the series, The Circus of Thieves, is an hilariously off-beat adventure aimed at the nine-plus readership, featuring an eccentric cast of circus performers, an evil ringmaster, two very daring children and a variety of weird and wonderful animals. When Shank's Impossible Circus comes to Hannah's small town, her life gets turned upside down as she finds herself on an adventure with Billy, the son of ringmaster, Armitage Shanks, as they try to foil his dastardly plans.

SIMON & SCHUSTER ANNOUNCES NEW DORK DIARIES TITLES AND CELEBRATES SERIES SUCCESS

Simon & Schuster Children’s Books, alongside Aladdin, an imprint of Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing in the US, today announced the acquisition of further titles for the bestselling Dork Diaries brand, as they celebrate the launch of the fifth title in the series.
In the new deal, Jane Griffiths, Commissioning Editor at S&S UK, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights for three new titles in the series from Angharad Kowal at Writers House UK. The deal comprises two novels continuing the series, and one spin‐off journal.

TOP-SELLING SELF-PUBLISHED NEW ADULT TITLES TO SIMON & SCHUSTER

Simon and Schuster UK today announced the acquisition of nine titles from three top-selling self-published authors Abbi Glines, Nicole Williams and Steph Campbell. These titles will launch a programme of hot romance titles in the ‘new adult’ genre, with Jane Griffiths, Commissioning Editor, managing the list.

SIMON & SCHUSTER UK ACQUIRES LANCE ARMSTRONG: SEVEN DEADLY SINS FROM DAVID WALSH

Simon & Schuster UK has acquired world rights to David Walsh’s account of his 13-year pursuit of the truth in the incredible story of Lance Armstrong, Kerr MacRae, Executive Director announced today. World rights were bought in a competitive auction, acquired from Richard Relton of Green Room Sports. Scheduled for a stop-press publication in four weeks time, on 13 December 2012, Seven Deadly Sins is sure to be one of the big sports books this Christmas and the definitive book on Lance Armstrong.

SIMON & SCHUSTER UK ACQUIRES TINA NASH MEMOIR FOR THIS CHRISTMAS

Kerri Sharp, Senior Commissioning Editor of Non-fiction at Simon & Schuster, has bought World rights in the memoir of 31-year-old mother of two Tina Nash, who survived horrific domestic violence at the hands of her former partner, Shane Jenkin, in her home in Cornwall.
