LONDON 7 FEBRUARY 2014:
S&S to launch revamped Books and the City women’s fiction community on 14 February

SIMON & SCHUSTER UK Ltd today announces a brand new look  for its award-winning women’s fiction and lifestyle website Books and the City – to coincide with its 3rd Birthday as well as Valentine’s Day

BOOKS AND THE CITY brings together fashion, lifestyle, books, chapter samplers, podcasts, videos and competitions, curated by the ‘BookMinx’ character and spearheaded by project manager Sara-Jade Virtue. It features regular contributions from bestselling authors such as Jackie Collins, Jane Costello, Adriana Trigiani, Milly Johnson, Paige Toon and Melissa Hill, as well as exciting new voices from the world of women’s fiction.

Over three years it has developed sizable and dedicated social media, blogger and newsletter followings. It has also been successful in securing high-profile partnerships including recently with travel company Thomson – for a 5* luxury holiday to Mexico to promote KILLER QUEENS by Rebecca Chance – as well as with Visit Yorkshire, Champneys Spa, Kandee Shoes and Best Western Hotels.

Signalling the community’s continuing success, the BOOKS AND THE CITY revamp allows more frequent updates and a higher level of reader interaction within an arresting new format, while retaining the great content and features it’s become known for. The new site will launch on 14 February.

BOOKS AND THE CITY won a Books Marketing Society award for Best Partnership in 2012 for the work at Clothes Show Live, where the team have taken fiction and non-fiction authors along to sign books and sell copies.

Sara-Jade, project manager, said,
“We’re immensely proud of BOOKS AND THE CITY. When it was launched three years ago, no other UK publishing house was connecting directly to the consumer in this way, and the response we’ve had from readers and the industry has been amazing.  By re-launching the website, with a great new design and layout, we can interact even more with our audience  through the site as well as social media.

“2014 will see even more exciting partnerships showcased on the website – we work incredibly hard to build relationships with relevant brands, to bring the kind of content we, as readers ourselves, feel is relevant.”

Marketing Director Dawn Burnett said:
“The new design of the site and newsletter will appeal to our community, making content easier to navigate and also catalogue. The Team and authors behind BOOKS AND THE CITY create brilliant features and competitions. This new look showcases them beautifully”
